Headshot Session Prep Guide

Thank you for booking your custom headshot/branding session! To ensure you look and feel your best, please review these preparation tips.

Before Your Session

Wardrobe Selection

  • Bring 2-3 outfit options in colors that complement your skin tone

  • Solid colors work best – avoid busy patterns, small stripes, or logos

  • Consider your brand – dress for the industry/image you want to project

  • Fit matters – ensure clothing is well-fitted and wrinkle-free

  • Necklines – V-necks and scoop necks are generally most flattering

  • Layers add versatility – blazers, cardigans, or jackets offer different looks that fit the style and brand you wish to create.

Grooming (Day Before/Day Of)

  • Men: Get a haircut 3-5 days before (not the day of) and be freshly shaved or groom facial hair

  • Women: Schedule any hair coloring at least one week prior

  • Everyone: Get plenty of rest the night before – well-rested eyes photograph better!

  • Skincare: Moisturize well, but avoid trying new products right before your session

What to Avoid

  • Heavy alcohol the night before (can cause puffiness/redness)

  • Sleeveless tops (unless you're confident about bare arms)

  • Turtlenecks (can be unflattering in photos)

  • White or very light colors if you have fair skin

  • All black (can be harsh unless styled carefully)

Day of Your Session

Arrival

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to relax and settle in

  • Your professional makeup artist will be ready to begin at your scheduled time

What to Bring

  • All wardrobe options on hangers

  • Any jewelry or accessories you'd like to include

  • Shoes

  • Eyeglasses (if you wear them) – cleaned and smudge-free

Makeup (Handled by Our Professional Artist)

Our makeup artist will create a polished, camera-ready look. If you have specific preferences or concerns, please discuss them during your style consultation or upon arrival.

During Your Session

  • Relax and trust the process – I'll guide you through posing and expressions

  • Communicate – let me know if something feels uncomfortable

  • Have fun! Authentic confidence photographs beautifully

After Your Session

  • Immediate image review – We'll review your headshots together in my client viewing area where you can select your favorite images right away

  • Your 7 digital images will be professionally edited and delivered within 5 business days

  • Rush delivery available for an additional fee if you need them sooner

  • Additional images are available for purchase at $75 each
